Such an important assignment, Jess. And a joyful one! What if we didn’t have to worry about getting the shot and could just be in the moment? This piece reminds me that I do not have photos of my many (almost all) of my most memorable moments. I was living them, not documenting them for some unknown future historian. And you are so right about the stories!! My parents have been sharing more stories from their own childhood, and those little slices of life - captured in a few words - are priceless.

Isn't it funny how few photos we have of our memorable moments? It's so special that your parents are sharing their stories with you. I truly believe THAT's how these memories are passed on, not our insistence on capturing the video or the photo and certainly not through social media posts about them.
